Police said just before midnight Saturday, shorts were reported at a bus stop in the 600 block of Gallatin Pike South. Witnesses said shots were fired from the suspect car, striking and shattering the glass at the bus shelter. The shots may have come from a pellet gun, police said.

“As many as 50 WeGo bus shelters have been damaged over the last three weeks, including 20 this past weekend. The glass enclosures around the stops were either partially or totally shattered,” MNPD said.

The majority of the vandalism has occurred along Gallatin Pike in East Nashville and 12th Avenue South in Edgehill. Other shelters vandalized were reported in downtown, Madison, Germantown, West End Avenue and South Nashville.

“The damaged bus shelters have either been repaired or will be soon. Additional police patrols will be providing an extra presence along bus route corridors,” MNPD said. “Anyone with information about the car and its occupants or the vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.”
