Something old, something new; something borrowed, something J.Crew. To usher in the 2024 fall season — and celebrate 40 years of business —  clothier J.Crew is reviving its iconic print catalog, which will feature the brand’s latest autumn styles (which are perfect for any travel wardrobe) alongside a collection of Q&A interviews and editorial write-ups. And serving as the catalog’s cover star is none other than esteemed American actress and style icon Demi Moore.

According to Moore, this collaboration is only natural, as she’s been a dedicated fan of J.Crew for decades and still regularly sports her favorite vintage pieces from years past. For the fall catalog, Moore has partnered with the brand to create a nostalgic ‘90s celebrity style edit that draws inspiration from Moore’s collection of vintage J.Crew pieces. Ahead, we dive deeper into three of the best fall looks from the Demi Moore x J.Crew style edit, taking a closer look at how the star blends said vintage pieces with new J.Crew releases, like these Italian leather tassel loafers, and this luxurious wool trench coat. Plus, we put on our detective hats to find lower-priced options that can help you get Moore’s fall look for less.

When it comes to timeless fall wardrobe pieces, the cable-knit sweater is pretty hard to beat. Example no. 1: The true vintage cable-knit sweater Moore is seen wearing above, one that she’s lovingly owned and worn throughout the years. While her cable-knit sweater might not be re-released any time soon (one can hope, though), a similar classic style can be found in the brand’s $228 Cashmere Cable-knit Sweater.

To enmesh clothing staples past and present, Moore pairs her vintage sweater with these perfectly distressed, medium-washed J.Crew Mid-rise Straight Jeans, $148. For footwear, the star reaches for the brand’s Cashmere-blend Trouser Socks, $45, before stepping into these $228 rich-burgundy, Italian leather Maison Tassel Loafers.

It may be difficult to track down Moore’s original crew-neck pullover, but we were able to find this $37 Okiwam Knit Sweater lookalike that mirrors the oversized, lived-in silhouette of her vintage J.Crew sweater. Should her mid-rise straight jeans be just out of your budget’s reach, opt instead for these Madewell The ‘90s Mid-rise Jeans for $99. Finish the look with these tan Coziwell Knit Crew Socks, $12, and these burgundy Franco Sarto Tassel Loafers, $36.

You could have told us that Demi Moore invented the color red, and after looking at this photo, we would have believed you. Her natural features pop gorgeously against this true red Cashmere Relaxed Crewneck Sweater, $158, and white $148 Mid-rise Straight Jean in 1984 Rigid. Cozy Cashmere-blend Trouser Socks, $45, and her own vintage pair of dark brown J.Crew work boots complete the look, although we think that these classic black Leather Lace-up Boots, $195, suit the outfit just as well.

To capture Moore’s look for less, consider swapping the $158 cashmere crewneck with this $25 Qualfort Knit Crewneck Sweater, instead. Made with a soft, lightweight knit fabric, it has a similar classic, relaxed fit and vibrant true red color to the J.Crew sweater. We think $148 is a fair cost for Demi’s white jeans, but these Classic Mid-rise Straight-leg Jeans from Levi’s have a similar silhouette for just $60.

We’re finishing the look with the medium tan shade in this Yomutiur Crew Socks, $15, and these $35 black Lace-up Ankle Boots from Amazon-loved brand Lisyiiz. After adding everything up, this lookalike outfit amounts to roughly $135 total — about 25 percent of the cost of the J.Crew look.

In this third and final look, Demi Moore stuns in this gorgeous single-breasted Wrap Wool Trench Coat, $498. The rest of her outfit is effortless and laid back, allowing this trench coat to be the star of the show (rightfully so). She layers the classic Pima Cotton T-shirt, $27, underneath and pairs it with a dark indigo shade of these $128 Mid-rise Slim Jean in 2003 Super-stretch.

While we’re obsessed with the details stitched into the J.Crew Wrap Wool Trench Coat — like the welt pockets and buttoned shoulder straps — we’d be lying if we said the $498 price tag was an easy pill to swallow. To get a similar look for less, we’re grabbing this $69 Cartour Wool Blend Trench Coat on Amazon in the camel shade. It shares some common design features with the J.Crew piece, like functional side pockets, a tie-front wrap belt, button-front closures, and a below-knee length.

While the price of the Pima Cotton Tee is pretty reasonable, there are plenty of alternatives that cost half as much, if not less. To keep the overall cost of the ‘fit low, we’re swapping the J.Crew T-shirt for this white Hanes Essentials Cotton T-shirt, $8. As for the indigo contrast-stitch jeans? We think $128 is more than fair. Should they run out, though you can save a some extra coin by reaching for these $90 Lands’ End Mid-rise Straight Jeans in the shade River Rinse. They have a similar silhouette, a deep indigo hue, and warm yellow contrast stitching throughout, delivering the same '90s classic style that Moore’s serving in this final look.
