Stand out with Graphite, the newest colour of EQUITONE [lines].

EQUITONE has launched the newest colour in its fibre-cement cladding range, EQUITONE [lines]. Designed by architects for architects, the colour Graphite creates a visually striking statement with its ridged surface and deep charcoal colour.

EQUITONE [lines] panels create a delicate texture and bring natural subtlety to a building’s facade, as well as provide high-performance benefits and meet sustainability certification standards.

The panels are resistant to water, fire and pests; and they are low maintenance, durable and do not contribute to the spread of fire – thereby making EQUITONE [lines] a safe choice for a building’s users.

EQUITONE [lines] is an example of the company’s commitment to manufacturing environmentally responsible building solutions. Since 1905, EQUITONE has developed cladding solutions that meet the basic principles of circular construction. Designed to be part of a full system, EQUITONE [lines] panels are easy to adapt, replace and dismantle for re-use.

EQUITONE [lines] is a fibre cement material that is Cradle to Cradle Certified to Bronze level and Green Star Australia recognized. The panels are resource-efficient by nature; they are thin, lightweight and can be cut to size to clad virtually any building facade with a minimum of material use per square metre. Made of water, Portland cement, cellulose and natural minerals, they are also easily recyclable.

Aiming to be at the forefront of innovation and sustainable product development, EQUITONE is rethinking how building materials are designed and used, to not only reduce waste and harmful emissions during the production process but to create durable facade solutions that last.

EQUITONE [lines] is through-coloured, which means the surface displays the inner texture and colour of the core fibre cement material. Due to unique linear grooves, EQUITONE [lines] panels reflect a natural interplay between light and shade.

Architects can experiment with size, pattern, and directionality or simply allow the panels to accentuate a facade and achieve a dynamic visual result. EQUITONE [lines] is available in four natural cement colours, in a maximum usable size of 1,220 mm × 3,050 mm and a thickness of 10 mm. Visible and invisible fixing options are available.

Capral has added LocAl ® , a lower-carbon primary aluminium option, to its range of locally manufactured extruded window, door and framing systems.

The company launched LocAl ® Green and LocAl ® Super Green to the Australian construction market in response to specifiers’ increasing demands for a responsibly sourced and locally extruded lower-carbon aluminium product.

LocAl ® provides Australian architects, designers, builders and developers with access to a more sustainable aluminium product for their projects.

“We feel it is vital to respond to the needs of the architecture and design community in their commitment to reducing embodied carbon within the built environment,” said Brendon Orth, national specification manager, Capral.

“By making LocAl ® Green standard across all our proprietary window systems, architects can specify systems they are familiar with, with no extra effort and no pricing premium. The outcome is a lower embodied carbon solution for their projects.”

Capral is a leading manufacturer and supplier of aluminium window, door and framing systems – specified for a wide range of commercial and residential applications.

With its commitment to reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050, Capral will supply its established range of aluminium products with a 50% reduction in embodied carbon.

“At eight kilograms of carbon emissions per kilogram of aluminium, LocAl ® Green has 50% lower carbon emissions than the current global average for primary aluminium,” explained Michael O’Keefe, general manager of marketing and technology, Capral.

The main contributor to carbon emissions associated with aluminium is the electrolysis process used during smelting. With this in mind, the primary aluminium offered under the LocAl ® brand is sourced exclusively from Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)-certified smelters.

“Being able to offer LocAl ® aluminium sourced from ASI-certified smelters gives us the added assurance that the aluminium we buy has been produced responsibly, with consideration given to sustainability and societal impact,” said Orth.

Capral is ambitious about offering LocAl ® to the Australian design and construction market, giving specifiers and builders a important opportunity to make a more responsible procurement decision when sourcing extruded aluminium.

Both LocAl ® Green and LocAl ® Super Green products can be supplied with certification upon request, to meet compliance requirements.

Capral Aluminium’s Architectural Glazing Systems (AGS) range is designed to achieve the ultimate combination of architectural style and performance.

Each product is engineered to withstand Australia’s harsh conditions, even the extremes, and has been tested for both heavy-use commercial and residential applications. Because the products in this range have been designed to work well together, Capral Aluminium can meet demanding design requirements. Any AGS door or window provides high-class design that performs beautifully; the sliding range includes fashionable large door constructions and offers extremely low air infiltration when closed.

Windows are available in fixed, sliding, awning, casement and double-hung. Capral’s AGS range supports either sliding security or standard screen doors to introduce more light and air into homes and offices without compromising on safety.

Intricate geometrical roofing made from COLORBOND ® steel in the colour Basalt ® crowns the nature-inspired Cumulus Studio designed Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, winner of the 2021 Australian Institute of Architects COLORBOND ® Award for Steel Architecture (Tasmanian Chapter).

Cumulus Studio said “The choice to use COLORBOND ® steel was made early in the concept design stage as it provided us with the opportunity to create a distinctive roof form, inspired by the geology of Cradle Mountain, made from a robust roof cladding material that would withstand the site’s harsh winter conditions. We chose the colour Basalt ® for the visitor centre not only for the way it allows the large building to settle against its alpine backdrop but also because the colour alludes to the dolerite rock from which the mountain is formed.”
