Vanadium-tungsten carbide hardface welding alloy resists abrasion

Postle Industries has introduced a vanadium-tungsten carbide hardfacing alloy for extreme abrasion, Vanguard PS150, available as an open-arc welding wire.

Postalloy® PS-150 is a tubular metal-cored hardfacing wire that provides a dense, heterogeneous deposit of vanadium-tungsten carbides, resulting in a combination of abrasion and impact resistance. According to the company, the wire is nearly equal to tungsten carbide in hardness and weighs half as much. With proper procedures, weld layers are noncracking and are easily rebuilt, the manufacturer says. wear plates
